Survey: Breast Cancer Is the Major Concern of Women Investors

Breast cancer continues to be the major concern of women investors, with over half of all women investors surveyed donating to charities and foundations dedicated to women's health concerns, according to research sponsored by Salomon Smith Barney.

Advancements in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and research were highlights of a luncheon symposium sponsored by Salomon Smith Barney at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.

"The voice of women investors has a powerful and positive impact on both corporate policies and the laws that affect women's healthcare and research," said Barbara Yastine, Chief Financial Officer, Citigroup's Corporate & Investment Bank and co-host of the luncheon celebrating June 2nd Komen National Race for the Cure.

Salomon Smith Barney has selected the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as the beneficiary of its participation in the SmartMoney Challenge, a yearlong portfolio competition among three full-service brokerage firms. SmartMoney magazine gave each brokerage a $50,000 investment account to manage with the gains of the three accounts donated to the winning firm's selected charity.
