Andre Agassi, Bill Gates in Tennis Benefit for Breast Cancer Research

Andre Agassi and Bill Gates are teaming up with other celebrities to fight breast cancer in the Schick Xtreme III Tennis Challenge.

The event takes place on October 7, 2001 and will include tennis stars Agassi, Jim Courier, Jonathan Stark and others along with Gates, who will be playing in a celebrity pro-am set.

Agassi, along with his sister Tami, the honorary chair of the event who recently won her fight with breast cancer, is helping organize the Challenge to honor his mother Elizabeth, who has also been fighting the disease.

"Last year I unexpectedly learned how breast cancer can affect the women we love, and the people who love them," said Agassi. "It gives me great comfort to know our efforts will raise thousands of dollars to further research for this widely spread disease. I'm looking forward to October. Playing in this event will be the highlight of my year."

All of the proceeds from the event will go to the University of Washington Medical Center Breast Care and Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
