Phase 1 Trial Starts for Breast Cancer Treatment Herzyme


Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals announced the start of a phase I trial of Herzyme, an investigational breast and ovarian cancer treatment.

Herzyme is a ribozyme against human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2, developed by Medizyme Pharmaceuticals, a joint venture between RPI and Elan Pharmaceuticals.

The study will evaluate the safety and tolerability of single daily injections of Herzyme in 12 women or more with refractory metastatic breast cancer.

The study is taking place at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver, Canada.
