The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) is offering
a free brochure, "Reducing Your Risk of Breast Cancer,"
that provides guidelines and tips on how to control dietary and
other lifestyle factors that affect a woman's chances of developing
breast cancer.
Research has
linked several dietary factors to increased breast cancer risk,
including high intakes of total and saturated animal fat and red
meat. Obesity is also considered to be a risk factor for developing
breast cancer. Consumption of olive oil and a high consumption
of fruits and vegetables have been linked to a lowered risk of
the disease.
The brochure
can be obtained by calling 1-800-843-8114, ext. 25, between Monday
and Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, ET. A second brochure, "Questions
and Answers About Breast Health and Breast Cancer," is also
available and provides information on breast cancer risk, treatment
and early detection.
