"Living With It" Support Program Launched by Aventis

Aventis Pharmaceuticals announced the launch of "Living With It," a comprehensive program designed to help women who have been diagnosed with recurrent breast cancer cope with health concerns, questions and lifestyle issues related to their disease.

"Women who are confronted with a diagnosis of recurrent disease need reassurance, direction and motivation to face the return of breast cancer," said Dr. Joyce O'Shaughnessy, associate director of U.S. Oncology Research, director of the Chemoprevention Research Program, and co-director of the Breast Cancer Research Program in Houston, Texas.

"While there is no substitute for the support and comfort of family, friends and medical professionals, the "Living With It" program certainly provides another type of support by using the perspective of an actual patient and addressing the informational needs of women during this difficult time," she added.

The "Living With It" program will expand to include a comprehensive Web site - www.livingwithit.org -- for women with recurrent breast cancer and their families, caregivers and healthcare professionals. The site will offer emotional and physical health support by addressing the care of the total patient. Information is also available for health care professionals.
